Released in 2025 and slated for a console release this year, the "kinetic novel" from the legendary studio behind titles like Kanon, Air, and Clannad is finally dropping its original soundtrack on streaming platforms.
Still spearheaded by studio founder Shinji Orito, the music of Kousai Toshi features its usual blend of upbeat city pop tracks and melancholy piano ballads, but it also introduces more electronic tracks that would feel right at home on the 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim OST.
Key significantly ramped up the distribution of its soundtracks on Spotify, Apple Music, and most other platforms last year, releasing two compilations back-to-back, alongside the OSTs for the legendary Air and Clannad.
Founded in the late '90s, Key is a subsidiary of Visual Arts, a Japanese visual novel production studio acquired by Chinese giant Tencent in 2023. Despite the uncertainty following the shakeup, the studio seems to have free rein to keep producing its games with total creative freedom. Anemoi, their latest title, is already out in Japan and will hit Steam later this year.
