I used to be big on tycoon games, and I know a younger me would have sunk hundreds of hours into Planet Zoo 2. Alas, life happened, and I find myself more drawn to story-driven games these days. All this rambling is just to say two very simple things. First, Planet Zoo 2 is now available on PC and modern consoles. Second, its accompanying soundtrack is streaming across all major platforms. How neat is that?
Spearheaded by Canadian composer J.J. Ipsen, the official Planet Zoo 2 soundtrack brings back a stellar roster of musicians we've previously heard across other Frontier titles (chiefly Planet Coaster 2), including Marcus Hedges, Joanna Pena, and Alastair McNamara. Speaking of McNamara, don't sleep on his latest jazz-meets-DnB score for Curse Words.
Experience a wilder world with ‘You, Me & Sanctuary, The Music of Planet Zoo 2’, featuring music by J.J. Ipsen and additional composers. Embark on a musical journey through a vibrant collection of 38 original tracks, spanning 2 hours and 28 minutes of warmth, creativity, and adventure.
From tranquil melodies to uplifting rhythms, each piece captures the heart and soul of Planet Zoo 2's living, breathing world. Whether you're designing breathtaking habitats, managing your thriving zoo, or simply taking a moment to admire the animals you've released into the wild, these enchanting compositions provide the perfect accompaniment as you build, nurture, and protect wildlife across the globe. Let the soundtrack's signature blend of folk-inspired charm transport you to a place where nature flourishes and imagination knows no bounds.
Led by J.J. Ipsen, the independent game composer behind the beloved Planet Zoo and Planet Coaster soundtracks, this all-new collection celebrates the beauty, diversity, and wonder of the animal kingdom through a rich tapestry of musical talent.
-- Steam description
Ipsen is a name frequently paired with Jim Guthrie, his collaborator on Planet Coaster's unforgettable soundtrack that came out a decade ago. Keen-eyed VGM fans will have already noticed Guthrie's absence here. In truth, he's kept a remarkably low profile over the past few years, though he did drop a new score earlier this year—HELIX, available exclusively on Bandcamp.
