There aren't many things I love more than discovering new artists. There is always some apprehension, of course—that I might miss the mark, or simply not enjoy the music. But more often than not, my Friday morning music curation puts immensely talented musicians on my radar. Case in point: Canadian composer Ian Aisling, who seems to be making his video game soundtrack debut here.
Raised on late '90s Nintendo OSTs, as he notes on his website, Aisling delivers an energetic, bouncy chiptune score for the Juke's Quest for Harmony demo, overflowing with optimism and hope. It is a refreshing contrast to Jake Kaufman's occasionally oppressive melodies in the still fresh Mina the Hollower, for instance!
Both the composer and the game are definitely worth keeping on your radar.
