Forgive its (most likely) AI-generated artwork. The survivors-like game from 8bitSkull is off to a flying start on Steam, where it’s already earning rave reviews for its fast-paced and varied gameplay.
The music is handled by a Scottish composer Christoph Gray whose work I’d previously heard on the somewhat forgettable Bore Blasters (2024). In top form, the musician offers a long album (36 tracks) of rather grim metal—as heavy as the rhythm of a harvester—which fits Skull Horde’s macabre atmosphere perfectly. It’s not necessarily a personal favorite, but it’s a great fix for those who need a dose of ear-splitting guitars.
