I’m annoyed: we just don’t have enough Paul Aubry in our lives. The Montreal-based composer blew me away with the soundtrack to the aerial city builder Airborne Kingdom (back in 2020 already…), and even though we recently heard his work on Station to Station or Town to City, I’m thrilled to find the incomparable charm of his music once again on Airborne Empire!
The lucky few who took part in the game’s early access have been enjoying his majestic orchestrations since January 2025. But to mark the release of The Wandering Band’s new game (which has been very well received, by the way), Paul Aubry is finally dropping his new album on all platforms.
I’m listening to the OST as I write this, and it is masterful in every way. Gentle, evocative, polished, and inspiring. These compositions feel like a reassuring hand on your shoulder, telling you that everything is going to be okay. I really need that right now.
I hope Paul Aubry is already working on a vinyl release as successful as the one for Airborne Kingdom—a piece of my collection that I treasure with all my heart.
