Running like clockwork, Blizzard Entertainment has released the OST for the latest Diablo IV expansion across all platforms, which launches today on PC and consoles. Subtitled Lord of Hatred, it features the return of Mephisto and introduces numerous new features, such as a fishing mechanic and two new classes: the Paladin and the Warlock.
For this new 32-track album (I’ve heard great things about the music for this new expansion), the lineup focuses on two key figures from the Blizzard sound team. Ted Reedy returns as lead, but he also brings in Ryan Amon, who until now was primarily known for his film work (Elysium). The composer isn't a total stranger either—he did a beautiful job, in my opinion, on the soundtrack for Diablo Immortal, the mobile game released in 2022.
However, I do miss my personal favorite, Leo Kaliski, whose tracks are consistently my favorites on Blizzard game albums (a fact proven once again with the latest World of Warcraft expansion).
However, if morbid and depressing orchestral music isn't your cup of tea, perhaps the guitars of Korn will get you moving. The American nu-metal band released a new single last week in partnership with Blizzard to celebrate the launch of the latest Diablo expansion.
A vinyl compilation of the Diablo IV music was released by iam8bit and can still be found through third-party retailers.
