In this spiritual successor to Resident Evil (and perhaps even more so Dino Crisis), the music is a huge part of what creates the atmosphere. This fixed-camera survival horror takes us through a South Korean city ravaged by a meteor impact and crawling with abominations.
The soundtrack was composed by a nearly all-female team (which is pretty rare, especially in this genre), offering chilling atmospheres alongside some heavy, industrial-leaning tracks. With its ambient layers, humming drones, and subtle percussion, the music slowly builds tension and creates a grimey, unsettling tone that really makes me want to dive deeper into the game.
Jaimee Jimin Park, the co-lead composer of this massive soundtrack (66 tracks!), has mostly worked in film until now, though she did contribute a few tracks to a Guild Wars 2 expansion in 2023. Her collaborator Kati Falk-Flores has an impressive track record, with credits on Furiosa, Star Wars: Andor, and countless Netflix productions. They are joined by Simon and Zinta Marchant from the post-punk collective Normil Hawaiians (whose career dates back to the early 80s!). It’s quite a surprising lineup for a soundtrack that really stands out, especially in a genre where music often takes a backseat.
