Tracking new VGM releases since 2022

Masafumi Takada’s slick Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth OSTs hit streaming services at last

Danganronpa's composer delivers a vibrant electronic score for the Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth duology, which has finally landed on major digital platforms worldwide.

Digimon fans and VGM enthusiasts have good reason to celebrate this week. Composer Masafumi Takada announced on X that his original soundtracks for Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth and its companion entry, Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker's Memory, are now available on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music—basically wherever you stream music. Thanks to RPG Site for the tip!

If Takada’s name sounds familiar, it’s because his distinct sonic footprint is stamped across modern cult classics, from the gritty score of killer7 and No More Heroes to the chaotic energy of Danganronpa. For the neon-lit, digital world of the Cyber Sleuth games—which trade traditional anime tropes for a modern detective mystery—he crafted a remarkably sleek soundscape. The music blends crisp synthwave, driving club beats, and subtle jazz-infused harmonies that fit the games' cyberpunk aesthetic perfectly.

With the original game's music split into two separate volumes and Hacker’s Memory getting its own dedicated release, there are hours of top-tier VGM ready to dive into.
