Ghost of Yōtei Wins the 2026 BAFTA Game Music Award

Ghost of Yōtei Wins the 2026 BAFTA Game Music Award

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has already scooped up more than enough trophies. At least, that’s how I’m interpreting the verdict from the BAFTA Academy, whose Game Awards branch celebrated the best of 2025’s video game creations yesterday.

While the Sandfall team obviously walked away with a haul of awards (notably Best Game and Best Performer for Jennifer English), it was ultimately the Ghost of Yōtei soundtrack that won over the jury during the ceremony, beating out heavyweights like Clair Obscur, Dispatch, Death Stranding 2, Hollow Knight: Silksong, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. It's worth noting that the latest game from Sucker Punch also won the Technical Achievement award last night.

The OST is a major departure from the first entry, blending traditional Japanese instruments with a vibe reminiscent of Spaghetti Westerns. The score was composed by Toma Otowa (a pseudonym for Wataru Hokoyama), who has previously made a name for himself on titles like Resident Evil 5, Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.

Sony is definitely on a roll. Last year, it was Wilbert Roget, II’s Helldivers II that took home the win in the Best Music category.

In recent weeks, the Ghost of Yōtei OST has also been expanded with new tracks, composed this time by Chad Cannon, to mark the arrival of the multiplayer mode. A vinyl release has also just been announced by Milan Records. The game is only available on PS5 at the moment, and it likely won't come out on PC at all, as Sony appears to be scrapping its porting strategy altogether.
