Quite well-received upon its release last week, this island village diorama-style builder entrusted its soundtrack to the enigmatic Macroblank—a composer I can find very little information about online.
While the opening tracks of this 23-song OST left me a bit cold, I was really hooked by the reggae and chillhop vibes of other tracks that truly stand out. Naturally, in this genre, musical loops repeat relentlessly. However, I truly believe Macroblank managed to find a great balance in terms of soundscape, all while avoiding the easy trap of sticking to a lofi mold. In many ways, the ShantyTown soundtrack is more reminiscent of Coffee Talk, which definitely scores extra points in my book.
