Launched in 2022, Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is still getting regular content updates. Back in June, the latest expansion introduced a new class, the Skitarii — a highly customizable breed of operatives “zealously devoted to the Machine God,” according to the official Steam description. While I don't play the game myself, I'm guessing this latest music drop is closely tied to that recent update, given that the album's opening track is titled "Skitarii."
Warhammer 40,000: Darktide Vol. 5 is an uncommonly long album by Jesper Kyd's standards for this franchise. Featuring 16 new cuts, it is considerably more substantial than previous releases — Vol. 4 featured 7 tracks, while Vol. 2 and Vol. 3 only added six apiece.
Either way, you're in for another heavy dose of industrial techno. Jesper Kyd remains unmatched when it comes to layering mean synths, roaring bass, and pounding war drums. While some tracks lean more into ambient territory, you'll still get your fair share of absolute bangers with standouts like "Skitarii Deployment" and "Lightning Storms."
