Awaited for seven years, this competitor to The Sims (and, in a way, InZoi), Paralives finally made its Early Access debut this week. Inevitably heavily influenced by Maxis' game, Paralives features a soundtrack that makes you feel right at home. Montreal-based composer Andrei Castañon delivers 16 tracks of music that are at times gentle, at times playful, driven by acoustic instruments perfect for creating our avatars and staging our virtual homes.
This marks the first major composition work for the young musician, who also handled the game's sound design. However, Andrei Castañon boasts a rich expertise in jazz music and short film scoring. Suffice it to say, composing for visual media is a field that is far from unfamiliar to him.
Funded via Patreon, Paralives is a life simulation that places a greater emphasis on the personal stories and aspirations of our avatars than its main and unshakeable competitor.
