I was really looking forward to finally being able to properly listen to the OST of Koei Tecmo's latest Musou game, which serves as a prequel to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Released on Switch 2 in late 2025, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment turned heads notably for its soundtrack, composed by Keiichi Okabe and many of his peers from MONACA. In other words: the very people who moved you in NieR and NieR:Automata.
It is a massive 69-track OST, spanning over three and a half hours of music, which unfolds like a majestic storybook. It naturally features musical nods to Manaka Kataoka and her team's work on the latest Zelda, but also brings that sense of drama typical of MONACA's signature style. A marriage as unexpected as it is worth celebrating, which you can now stream on Nintendo Music. A Switch Online subscription is required, but here is a quick reminder that you can now enjoy the Nintendo Music catalog right from your web browser!
Earlier this week, Nintendo also expanded the Mario Kart World soundtrack with tracks from the touring mode. This looks set to become a weekly routine, given how many songs are still missing from the lineup.
