ArenaNet reveals the Guild Wars 3 main theme and opens an exciting new chapter

The composer of Suzume, Halo 4 and Ghost in the Shell joins the Guild Wars music team.

ArenaNet just gave us our very first glimpse into the future of Guild Wars 3, and it already sounds breathtaking. Even though the game’s full release remains a long way off on the horizon, the studio has officially unveiled its main theme alongside a fascinating behind-the-scenes video detailing its creation. The monumental task of opening this new chapter was handed to composer Kazuma Jinnouchi—whom you probably know for his celebrated work on Suzume and Batman: Arkham Shadow last year.

Jinnouchi’s arrangement seamlessly blends sweeping, pulse-pounding orchestrations with delicate, contemplative textures that capture the vast scope of Tyria. Even if this first track begins a tad safely, composer Kazuma Junnouchi explains that it's very much intentional. “Knowing the story takes place a thousand years before Guild Wars 1, I was naturally turning to solo strings […] I wanted to make it feel like someone's reading your tale.” For longtime fans wondering about musical continuity, the news gets even better: veteran series composer Maclaine Diemer has officially confirmed his return to help shape the score.

Head over to YouTube to watch ArenaNet's deep dive and stream the main theme today. Know, we just have to be patient and to trust in the studio's vision for their upcoming MMORPG.
