Following the release of Control Resonant this Thursday, September 24, symphonic and folk metal mainstays Apocalyptica and Kalandra dropped "Upperhand", the opening track from Remedy's latest installment. Apocalyptica and Kalandra are no strangers to gaming. The former contributed a track to Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding marketing campaign back in 2019, while the latter penned a full-blown original score for 2022's Kingdom Two Crowns: Norse Lands. Having two of my personal favorites collaborate on one of my most anticipated games of the year feels like a dream match!
Earlier this week, Remedy dropped an EP titled "Zoe's Mixtape" as Control Resonant rolled out to Deluxe Edition owners on PS5. It features six licensed tracks from pop, rock, and hip-hop artists signed to Finnish label Fried Records—including Vilma Jää, whose viral single "Manalan Mailla" has made waves on social media over the past few months. The full original score, composed in-house by Petri Alanko, is expected to arrive in the coming weeks. Judging by Remedy's track record, a vinyl edition may well be on the horizon. Stay tuned!
