Developed in partnership with the European Space Agency (ESA), Aphelion takes off on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC later today. This brand-new IP from the French studio—renowned for the first two Life is Strange games, Remember Me, Jusant, and Lost Records: Bloom & Rage—follows the journey of two astronauts searching for a new home for a declining humanity.
And it’s safe to say: DON'T NOD has never had a more prestigious collaborator! The studio has secured the talents of Amine Bouhafa, the French composer who won a César in 2015 for the Timbuktu soundtrack and was nominated again this year for La Petite Dernière. This marks the musician's first foray into video games, delivering a stunning 17-track album that feels incredibly organic and avoids the typical sci-fi music clichés.
Notably, this isn't the first time DON'T NOD has partnered with a film composer. Jusant, the studio's penultimate project, was highly acclaimed for its soundtrack by Guillaume Ferran. That score was even pressed on vinyl by Kid Katana Records—the same label distributing the Aphelion soundtrack on streaming platforms. Should we expect a vinyl release in the coming weeks? I'd bet on it.
I’ll have the chance to discuss the game's soundtrack in more detail in an upcoming interview with Amine Bouhafa very soon—stay tuned!
