I have yet to meet an Ace Combat fan who doesn't get emotional talking about the music. Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve certainly delivers on that front, with unofficial rips racking up hundreds of thousands of views on YouTube. Fortunately, you won't have to rely on low-bitrate rips anymore: today, Bandai Namco and Project Aces dropped an 11-track selection of AC8's score, now streaming on Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, and YouTube Music via the links above.
Helmed, like most recent mainline entries in the series, by Keiki Kobayashi, Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve showcases the franchise's trademark blend of epic orchestral grandeur and unabashed rock tracks that teeter right on the edge of being a little too cheesy for my taste. Don't mind me, though: AC8 is my first Ace Combat, and I'm still finding my footing in this universe. That said, I genuinely love the unexpected, Polyphia-pilled cut "Frostwave"!
Whether the full 31-track score is just around the corner remains to be seen. As fans have noted online, the Asian collector's edition of Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve included a USB drive loaded with the complete lossless soundtrack. I'd wager Project Aces simply needs a little extra time to polish the digital master for streaming services. Time will tell.
Bandai Namco has been on quite a roll with its catalog lately. Over the past year, the publisher brought most classic Ace Combat soundtracks to streaming platforms, including Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies a couple of months back, Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War, and even the Ace Combat 30th anniversary concert.
