Everyone had been anxiously awaiting the arrival of a true successor to Disco Elysium (released back in 2019 already). Following a great deal of turmoil within the ZA/UM studio—which notably led to the departure of co-founder Robert Kurvitz and several lead developers from Disco Elysium—we now have ZERO PARADES: For Dead Spies, a C-RPG with a unique, signature art style and an already obvious heir to the cult game.
There is no Sea Power on soundtrack duties this time around, however. Instead, Fernando Cabrera carries the heavy burden of expectations from players hooked on "Whirling-In-Rags, 8 AM". It is a bet that paid off handsomely, if you ask me, as Cabrera's score blends beautifully with this dark and cerebral spy game. The Spanish musician delivers an experimental, twisted, and cunning jazz style. Time will tell if his music leaves as lasting an impression on players as the British alternative rock band did with Disco Elysium.
