Tracking new VGM releases since 2022

The soundtrack for Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is available now on streaming platforms

Olivier Derivière drops the complete score for Asobo's upcoming prequel ahead of launch.

Get a head start on Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy through its music. Olivier Derivière, the composer behind this new entry in Asobo's franchise, has just released the soundtrack he's been cooking up alongside Vasiliki Anastasiou and her Amalgamation Choir. It is now streaming across all major platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, and Deezer.

Slated for release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S on August 27th, Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is a prequel to both A Plague Tale: Innocence (2019) and A Plague Tale: Requiem (2022). Set 15 years before the events of the first game, the story follows Sofia, the pirate Hugo and Amicia met during their journey in Provence. The blade-wielding character quickly became a fan favorite thanks to her sassy personality and iconic look. Asobo felt she would be the perfect fit for a new, more combat-heavy adventure.

As hinted in the three snippets the composer shared earlier this summer, the music takes a radical turn. The all-women Amalgamation Choir led by Vasiliki Anastasiou adds tremendous atmosphere without ever compromising the series' signature, ominous use of strings.

I'll leave things here for now, as I'm fortunate enough to have received a review code for Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy. I'm currently working my way through the Minotaur's island, and let me tell you, the music sounds even better in-game. Stay tuned for more!

Earlier this summer, Black Screen Records opened pre-orders for the Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy 2LP.
