As announced by its main composer, Yuji "TECHNOuchi" Takenouchi, on his social media, the original soundtrack for the PS2 game ChainDive and its official arrangement album have finally arrived on Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer and the likes. The album was originally published in 2022 on CD and Bandcamp.
Ranked among the top 10 PS2 game OSTs by DJ Dedeco (who sampled the soundtrack extensively for his mixes), ChainDive is a lesser-known title in Sony's catalog. Released exclusively in Japan and developed by the studio Alvion, it is an action side-scroller where you play as a sharp-bladed mecha ridding the planet of a monstrous invasion. The gameplay is exhilarating, but the soundtrack, which mixes techno and house music, is even more so.
Composed mainly by TECHNOuchi (Metal Gear Solid 2: Solid Snake, Circadia) and Hideyuki Eto (Armored Core series), the ChainDive original soundtrack has vastly outgrown the popularity of the game itself, and even 23 years later, it hasn't lost any of its club-worthy appeal. It sits way up here, just beside the legendary Ghost in the Shell PS1 soundtrack.
