Sonic goes on a world tour to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the franchise

Sega confirmed this week that a worldwide concert tour will be held to celebrate the anniversary of its famous blue mascot with the red shoes.

"Sonic Live in Concert" will honor Sonic's longevity, celebrating the franchise through iconic tracks from the various installments released from 1991 all the way up to Sonic Racing Crossworlds in 2025 (which, by the way, was the longest soundtrack of the year, boasting 208 tracks). On stage, a symphony orchestra and a rock band will reinterpret the songs alongside vocalists whose identities have not yet been revealed.

A live ensemble, rock musicians, electronics, and vocalists will perform an array of the incredible and defining songs from throughout the games as well as instrumental renditions of fan favourites from the Genesis era to now as they accompany the most exciting moments from across the games. From Green Hill Zone to “Undefeatable,” there’s no better way to celebrate Sonic’s rich history.

Audiences can expect musical Easter eggs woven into the arrangements and an electrifying production, adding an extra layer of discovery that brings Sonic’s world vividly to life on stage.

The concert also highlights the creative legacy behind Sonic’s music from legendary composers Jun Senoue and Tomoya Ohtani, whose work has helped define Sonic’s sound across generations.

For now, only the US and UK dates have been announced for the tour, which is set to kick off on September 20th. However, Sega has confirmed that a European tour is definitely on the agenda—with more details coming soon. Ticket sales open tomorrow, May 29th, at this link.

Last month, Square Enix also announced that a new world tour is set for the NieR Orchestra Concert.
