AstralShift’s new game launches in Early Access today, giving the Portuguese studio another chance to try its hand at a new genre: the survivors-like. Despite its contrasting title, Hell Maiden is indeed a bullet heaven where you have to survive waves of enemies by creating the most broken build possible through deck-building mechanics. That said, storytelling remains at the heart of the game’s ambitions—and the first part of the soundtrack clearly sets the tone for the dramatic stakes in this modern retelling of Dante’s Divine Comedy. "Hell Maiden is more than a reimagining of the classic poem — it is the exciting continuation of its events!", promises the studio in its description of the game.
AstralShift has once again teamed up with French composer Donovan "Skyleo" Sama, who delivers a deeply moving 14-track first volume. Occasionally channeling Basiscape’s signature sound, the musician surprises with gothic orchestral tracks driven by choirs and organ, alongside high-BPM, combat-ready themes that drive the action forward.
As if that weren't enough, Hell Maiden’s Early Access launch also comes with a brand-new opening track by Mili, the band behind last year’s spellbinding ENDER MAGNOLIA soundtrack.
