It’s a big day for boutique game vinyl. Following Stumpy Frog’s announcement of The Wild at Heart OST earlier today, the striking soundtrack for psychological horror walking sim Eclipsium is also heading to vinyl via Materia Collective. A surreal exploration game driven by a low-poly PS1-meets-FMV aesthetic, Eclipsium is—unsurprisingly—published by Critical Reflex, the indie darling behind hits like Arctic Eggs, Mouthwashing, and Buckshot Roulette. These titles boast unmistakable aesthetics, to put it mildly, setting themselves apart through both visual charm and bold musical direction. That holds especially true for Eclipsium's score, composed by newcomer Hudson Bikichky in his debut indie project. Way to go, Hudson!
Drifting between ambient textures, pillowy post-rock, and crushing industrial noise, Eclipsium’s soundtrack is at least as memorable as the trip it accompanies. It’s a great grab for Materia, continuing their run of niche pressings tailored to dedicated collectors, much like their recent reveal for YIIK I.V & Y2K: Benevolent Psychosis.
