The Wild at Heart is a delightful hand-drawn adventure game released in 2021. While it received a warm reception from critics and players alike, it remains a niche success for developer Moonlight Kids (who will release Echo Weaver on October 8). As a result, I had almost given up hope of ever seeing its memorable soundtrack by Amos Roddy (Citizen Sleeper, Kingdom: Two Crowns) pressed on vinyl. But that was without counting on the exquisite taste and unmatched curation of Stumpy Frog—the indie label that has already brought us the OSTs for Citizen Sleeper, as well as more recently Arctic Egg, Caves of Qud, Night in the Woods, and many others.
Available in stock directly from Stumpy Frog and UK-based Lost in Cult, the 2LP release of The Wild at Heart features all 31 tracks composed by the American musician, which are also available across all streaming platforms. “This particular tale deserves a soundtrack that captures the childlike spirit of adventure without ever feeling patronizing,” says the label on its press release. “Composer Amos Roddy (Citizen Sleeper, In Other Waters, Cloud Gardens, Kingdom series) delivers music that emphasizes the mystical nature of the Deep Woods, its strange inhabitants, and its unique mechanics. Evocative synths and woodland-inspired instrumentation create a world that balances joy and mystery, danger and delight across 31 tracks.”
At the same time, Lost in Cult has also announced a vinyl release for the soundtrack to Flock, composed by the brilliant Eli Rainsberry. A bundle featuring both vinyl records is available with a 10% discount. All details are available here.
