Set to release on April 21st, poncle's new take on its "vampire" formula is off to a great start. The indie developer has released the title track from the upcoming game, and it’s composed by none other than Yoko Shimomura!
The Japanese composer sits amongst the greatest names in video game music history. She is widely known for her work on Street Fighter II, but perhaps even more so for the soundtracks to the Kingdom Hearts series and Final Fantasy XV. She is often regarded as the most famous female composer in the video game music industry. Last year, she received the BAFTA Fellowship in recognition of her contribution to the medium. A year prior, she was also celebrated by her peers during the Game Developers Conference.
This isn’t the first time Shimomura—longtime associate of Square Enix productions, but now freelance—has contributed to the soundtrack of a "smaller" game. In 2020, she composed a track for Streets of Rage 4, and was a guest on Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo, released last year.
As the release of Vampire Crawlers approaches, poncle has announced the full tracklist for the soundtrack—mainly composed by Michael Coviello, Daniele Zandara, and Filippo Vicarelli.
