It’s impossible not to pay tribute to the incredible Wanderstop OST by C418. After a long hiatus, the composer who accompanied players through thousands of hours of Minecraft returned last year to score the latest game by Davey Wreden, creator of The Stanley Parable. It is a significant narrative game, whose themes of mental health and burnout resonate particularly deeply today.
Today, just over a year after the game’s release, the iam8bit label has announced the upcoming physical edition of Wanderstop, which naturally includes two separate 2LP vinyl sets. The first 2LP features the game's score, composed by C418, while the second focuses on the various radio stations you can tune into during gameplay (with music also by Daniel "C418" Rosenfeld).
Both 2LPs will be released in late August and will retail for $42.99. Pre-orders close on June 15, giving you plenty of time to (re)discover the enchanting soundtrack crafted by the German composer. In Europe, Black Screen Records will handle distribution; you can find them at this address.
However, while the Ivy Road game is being celebrated today, I’d like to remind everyone that the studio was sadly forced to shut down on March 31. Sales of Wanderstop weren't enough to recoup costs and fund their future project, titled Engine Angel.
Unfortunately, we've got some bittersweet news: today we must share that Ivy Road is closing its doors due to being unable to secure funding for our next project. Read more via our blog post at www.ivyroad.fun/studioupdate...
