It is always fun to discover that a game you have never even heard of is actually an absolute cult classic for many players. Released back in 2002, Gitaroo-Man completely flew under my radar at the time (I was nine, and did not have a PS2). It was only last week, when I found out it was coming to PS Plus, that I realized just how huge it actually is.
Today, as iNiS's quirky rhythm game finally hits the PS5, its soundtrack is doing the same on all streaming platforms. It is the perfect opportunity for me to discover it, and for you, perhaps, to take a trip down memory lane.
Crafted by the J-Rock duo COIL, the Gitaroo-Man soundtrack is incredibly versatile. Essentially, every single track embraces a different musical style, shifting from alternative rock to reggae, funk, or symphonic metal. It is a superb medley, and the music definitely hasn't aged a day.
