I’ve never really bothered to look into what "EX" actually means at the end of a game's title. I just know it brings two things to mind: retro games and an absolute banger of an OST. Viral Reload EX hits the nail on the head as an old-school shmup powered by relentless melodies from floopy—a composer and arranger who specializes in exactly this kind of music.
If I had one complaint about the album, it’s that some tracks are just too short (it's honestly a crime that "The Groovy" or "Trusted Companions" lasts under a minute). Then again, that's just a great excuse to put the soundtrack on repeat. Driven by a bouncy bassline, floopy’s music transports us straight back to the early 90s. Oh, and by the way, I advise you to take a look at the artist bio on Spotify. Informative stuff.
By the way, the game is criminally underrated and lacks visibility, so if you like what you hear, show it some love on Steam!
