Tracking new VGM releases since 2022

The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales debuts on Spotify, Apple Music and more (but only with a preview)

It has become a habit for Square Enix: a few days after a new game is released, its soundtrack launches for purchase on CD and on digital storefronts, while a short teaser drops on streaming platforms. Once again, this is the path chosen by the Japanese publisher for The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales.

The full 105-track OST isn't expected to hit Spotify, Apple Music, and others until 2027 at the earliest. Square has indeed made a habit of giving its soundtracks time to sell before making them available everywhere else. In the meantime, we now have 7 tracks to sink our teeth into to discover, or rediscover, the work of Tomohiro Nakamachi and Yuto Moritani.

The latest RPG from Team Asano calls on relative newcomers, so to speak. Specifically, two members of the studio IMAGINE, who mostly cut their teeth on games like THE IDOLM@STER and PRINCESS CONNECT!, or even Umamusume for Bandai Namco and Cygames. You can read more about their work over at VGMdb.

Much like The Adventures of Elliot itself, the soundtrack recycles many tropes of the genre—though not without a certain talent, of course. The string section and Kei Sakamoto's flutes give these few excerpts a sense of adventure and a musical flavor that wouldn't feel out of place in the Octopath Traveler franchise. If you want to grab the full OST, head over to Steam, iTunes, or retailers like CD Japan.
