As has become custom with Nintendo, the announcement of this new Lylat Wars (1997) remake is accompanied by the release of about ten tracks on Nintendo Music from an OST that already packs a punch in terms of orchestration. A Nintendo Switch Online subscription is required for playback, via the smartphone app only.
Koji Kondo and Hajime Wakai's legendary compositions are sublimated here by a symphonic orchestra that Square Enix would not disavow for the music of a new Final Fantasy installment. It is a pity that, as always with Nintendo Music, no credits are provided to know exactly who worked on this exceptional musical overhaul. Announced by surprise this Thursday, May 7, Star Fox will be released on Nintendo Switch 2 on June 25. This is the first entry in the franchise since Star Fox Zero in 2016. However, Fox McCloud does make an appearance in the Super Mario Galaxy movie, which came out in theaters earlier this year.
