Calling *Phantom Blade Zero* highly anticipated would be an understatement. Long sitting among the most wishlisted games on Steam, the groundbreaking action RPG from Chinese studio S-GAME launched last week to glowing reviews. Averaging an 88 on OpenCritic, it is already one of 2026's defining highlights. Even before release, I had heard remarkable things about the *Phantom Blade Zero* score. While I am still far from seeing the credits roll, I can confirm that I have rarely heard anything quite like this in a game before. Which brings us to the news: the complete original soundtrack by composer Caisheng Bo is now available across all major streaming platforms.

Clocking in at a whopping 81 tracks—nearly five hours of music—the *Phantom Blade Zero* score refuses to take the expected path. It has its fair share of ambient exploration cues guiding protagonist Soul on his path of vengeance, but the score truly erupts during combat encounters—especially the boss fights. Here, Bo pulls no punches, tossing every conceivable influence into the mix to deliver some of the most left-field, audacious music ever heard in an action title.

S-GAME could easily have played it safe by leaning into formulaic orchestral swells garnished with traditional Chinese instruments. Instead, Bo bends genres at will, veering sharply from metalcore and trap to rave-ready beats and heartbreaking melodic interludes. Not every single track lands, and occasionally the compositions try a little too hard to disorient, slightly blunting the narrative's emotional weight. Still, you are virtually guaranteed to experience plenty of genuine "what on earth is happening?" moments during your playthrough.

Unfettered experimentation has always been a guiding principle for Caisheng Bo. His track record spans S-GAME's earlier *Phantom Blade* outings. As he told [Metro](https://metro.co.uk/2026/11/02/phantom-blade-zero-composer-reveals-music-offensive-china-29751728/), *Zero* is by far his "most polished and mature" work yet, but a decade-long collaboration with the studio has allowed him to sharpen his craft to a razor edge. Bo also contributed standout work to *F.I.S.T.: Forged in Shadow Torch* and *Have a Nice Death*.

Listeners won't have to wait long for his next outing either: Bo was recently announced as the composer for the upcoming *Tides of Annihilation*. "The music for *ToA* and *Phantom Blade Zero* represent two completely contrasting sonic worlds," [Bo shared on X](https://x.com/CaishengBo/status/1890762304561488153), "yet both are crafted with 120% passion and dedication."
