What do you mean I missed the news? Well, that's your sign that I *really* need a vacation. Last Friday, award-winning composer Gordy Haab let the cat out of the bag, officially announcing that he has composed the score for *Star Wars: Galactic Racer*—the upcoming podracing title slated to hit PC and modern consoles on October 6\. The 21-track OST will land the same day across all major streaming platforms, and the main theme, "The Soul of Racing," is already available. Give it a spin below, or fire it up on your platform of choice.

I really dig how solemn and grand this first single feels. I was actually expecting something less symphonic and more electronic, but I'm completely sold on this preview, which immediately sets the wheels in motion. I can practically picture the racers lining up on the grid, waiting for that final crescendo to wave the green flag.

According to the composer [on Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/p/DdcPXpmydVs/), *Star Wars: Galactic Racer* offered an opportunity to “try some new techniques” and take his sound to another level—crafting something fresh and distinctive without sidelining John Williams' iconic musical blueprint.

Haab is arguably the most adept composer working today when it comes to channeling Williams' grand orchestral legacy, and his score for the acclaimed *Star Wars Jedi: Survivor* stands as the gold standard. Since the early 2010s, Haab has contributed to 10 separate *Star Wars* titles, sharpening his craft with every entry. Still, scoring a high-octane racing game is an entirely different beast, which makes hearing the complete soundtrack all the more enticing.
