You might have thought Celeste would have inspired more imitators. Yet, worthy successors to Maddy Thorson’s brilliant and sensitive platformer remain rare.
Available today on Steam, TetherGeist is nevertheless trying to live up to that legacy. The debut title from O. and Co. Games doesn't hide its inspirations, explicitly citing Celeste in its marketing. The music, composed in-house by Jordan Ottesen, logically hits the same notes as Lena Raine’s legendary score.
That said, I found this album much calmer overall, but just as bright and lighthearted. While TetherGeist wears its inspirations on its sleeve, it puts in the effort to carve out its own identity. A very cool find.
