The latest winner of the Grammy Award for Best Video Game Score (for the mesmerizing Sword of the Sea) has been hopping onto some pretty surprising projects over the last few months. Following the beautiful The House of Hikmah and, before that, Towerborne, Austin Wintory is back with a fresh new soundtrack for the 1.0 launch of the rogue-like Swapmeat.
This third-person shooter doesn't hide its goofiness behind a bunch of gimmicks. Playful, and honestly a bit chaotic, Wintory’s music zig-zags between styles in a delicate balancing act that is, in my opinion, at its best when the woodwinds join the party. For those interested, Austin Wintory answered a bunch of questions during an AMA on the game's official Discord, which you can check out here.
