It's been a minute since the last metal-infused video game soundtrack. Off the top of my head, I'd say it goes back to the release of the latest *Carmageddon* in February ([go check it out, please](https://nwpl.ing/carmageddon-rogue-shift)). Therefore, the release of *Crimson Moon* this week was eagerly anticipated by metalheads and challenging action-RPG fans alike. Indeed, ProbablyMonsters hired a bunch of big names to headline its soundtrack—which you can now stream on your platform of choice.

The name that got me the most hyped was Misha Mansoor, the lead guitarist of prog-metal band Periphery, who already dipped his toes into VGM with a killer track for *Halo 2 Anniversary* back in the day. As a huge fan, I've had *Crimson Moon* on my radar for a while. Other massive names include noise band HEALTH, which spearheaded the *Max Payne 3* soundtrack in 2012, and YouTuber Jared Dines, who's been dropping shredding videos for years.

As is often the case with this kind of collab, each artist only contributes a single track to the OST. The lion's share of the soundtrack is actually handled by ProbablyMonsters' Christopher Wilson, with *Destiny* alum Skye Lewin acting as a co-composer. It's great to see his name pop back up in my feed after he was let go from Bungie in 2024!

We'll hear more from American studio ProbablyMonsters very soon, as they're wrapping up development on *Nekome: Nazi Hunter*, a game I'm eager to finally get my hands on for, um, no particular reason at all. Fan (me) favorite Steve Pardo has already been confirmed as the composer for this one. All the more reason to be excited, right?
