Last year, US boutique label Materia Collective unveiled [a massive vinyl box set](https://materia.store/products/castlevania-boxset) compiling, across 46 discs, the musical core of one of gaming's most celebrated household names: *Castlevania*. Now, with all 500 numbered editions delivered to proud owners and the franchise celebrating its 40th anniversary, Konami has brought that exact curated selection to major streaming services worldwide—although, according to Marshall Arts, who actually worked on the vinyl release, these digital files [are a closer match to 2021's Kujo and Aka CD sets](https://bsky.app/profile/marshallart.band/post/3mwz52zeezs26).

Spanning 26 volumes, 977 tracks, and roughly 30 hours of music, this monolithic catalog is split into two distinct collections: *Castlevania Black*, documenting the 8/16/32-bit eras alongside the N64, X68000 (featuring both CM-64 and SC-55 arrangements), and arcade installments; and *Castlevania Red*, kicking off with *Symphony of the Night* before tackling the GBA, Nintendo DS (*Aria/Dawn of Sorrow*, *Portrait of Ruin*, *Order of Ecclesia*), and PS2 eras (*Lament of Innocence*, *Curse of Darkness*), all the way through to *Harmony of Despair*.

Unfortunately, the metadata is a complete mess. On Spotify, for instance, these releases are categorized under Konami Kukeiha Club's native Japanese name (コナミ矩形波倶楽部)—except for the "Red" albums from Volume 3 onward, which mysteriously link to a completely separate artist profile. It is a convoluted tangle, so I did the legwork to sort everything out. Below, and over at [nwpl.ing/collection](https://nwpl.ing/collection), you will find all 26 volumes arranged chronologically, with direct links to Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Deezer, Tidal, and Qobuz.

Beyond messy categorization, there is also the issue of proper credit. Much like Nintendo, Konami tends to be frustratingly vague with liner notes, filing entire libraries under the generic banner of its internal sound team. To give credit where it is due, here is the full breakdown of every composer who worked on the titles featured across these 26 albums.

Keep in mind that while extensive, this release is still a curated selection, meaning a few landmark entries are notably missing—most prominently *Castlevania: Rondo of Blood* and the *Lords of Shadow* series. Even so, this remains a watershed moment for video game music preservation. Credit where credit is due: Konami has been surprisingly proactive on this front lately, having recently dropped [the soundtracks to its beloved JRPG saga *Suikoden*](https://nowplaying.cool/konami-suikoden-series-ost-drop-spotify/), alongside [several core *Gradius* scores](https://nowplaying.cool/as-the-konami-code-turns-40-all-the-gradius-osts-hit-spotify-and-apple-music/) earlier this year.

As the series hits its 40-year milestone, it also prepares for its first mainline entry in over a decade with *Castlevania: Belmont's Curse*, helmed by French studio Evil Empire (*Dead Cells*). The game launches on October 15 across modern consoles and PC, with a playable demo currently available on all storefronts.
